Spring Cleaning:

Out with the Old

In with the New!

I went through my closets and drawers and was amazed by how much stuff I have accumulated over the years.

I do this at least once a year…but what I noticed is that in my efforts to get rid of stuff I'm no longer using I still manage to hold on to stuff…like my cheerleading uniforms from 1993…my favorite pair of jeans from 2002 worn so much they have holes in places that make them unwearable (in the early 90's I would've just threw on some biker shorts underneath the holey jeans but times have changed).

No matter the sentimental reasons for holding on to certain items I realized that I had to get rid of it all.

I gathered all of the sweaters, coats, suits, t-shirts, skirts, dresses, shoes, etc…that I never wear and my husband did the same.

As I went down memory lane pulling out all of this stuff my mind kept saying "Out with the old in with the new.”

Which brings me to the main point…in letting go of the past and letting go of old things we

  • Make room for NEW things…
  • NEW memories…
  • NEW experiences…
  • NEW clothes (smile).

This is just another moment in which I once again see “The Secret” is in motion in my life and I know that the law of attraction will replenish my closets and drawers with a whole new wardrobe.

Last week my husband and I gave away 10 bags of clothes, shoes, and other miscellaneous items that neither my husband nor me use.

You know that old familiar saying “one man's junk is another man's treasure."

I gave money to a stranger at the gas station who was aimlessly digging in the trash.

I didn’t spend any time wondering how the money would be spent or if it what the right thing to do.

I gave because it felt right and I wished the person well and went about my day.

Later that week I received 2 “surprise” checks in the mail and an email confirming more funds on the way.

So perhaps you’re asking why I am telling you all of this?

Not for an outstanding citizens award or a pat on the back, but simply to demonstrate how universal laws work.

The Law of Giving:
The more you give of yourself without expectation of return, the more good that will come back to you, from the most unexpected sources. You will only be truly happy when you feel that you are making a real difference in the world by serving others in some way.

The Law of Attraction:

You continually attract into your life the people, ideas, and circumstances that harmonize with your dominant thoughts, either positive or negative. You can be, have, and do more because you can change your dominant thoughts.  ---Great Big Book of Wisdom Brian Tracy

Bottom line, spring-cleaning sucks but can be a rewarding experience.

It literally brought a new life and positive energy to my house, as I was further inspired to rearrange my living room and reorganize my office.

It’s also been an opportunity to give and set The Laws of Attraction in motion.

Lastly, for those of you who might be thinking who wants a bunch of old clothes, miscellaneous items, and electronics…

My answer is, you'd be surprised.

Some people make a living bartering and selling used merchandise at yard sales, on EBay etc…

So do some spring-cleaning and be a blessing to yourself and somebody else.
